Books in Bed: The Love We Share Without Knowing

The Love We Share Without Knowing, by Christopher Barzak

----------

A far more affecting read than "Birds and Birthdays", possibly because Barzak is able to expound on the theme (the love we share without knowing) in this novel-length work. I like that Barzak is interested in exploring themes as this, and in this novel-through-stories, his take on love merits more than a single reading. Had this kind of exploration been in the hands of a less gifted writer, one would call it erudite--which it is, too, really--except that the thoughts explored in the book are explored with so much feeling and magic, that one feels that one happens upon insight by oneself, rather than have it lectured to you by the author.
