A Game of Thrones, by George R.R. Martin (bought this for the husband. But he's asleep now. Read through all the Dany chapters. Part of me apparently believes that horrible things that happen in "civilization" are more horrible (and therefore more difficult to read about) than horrible things that happen in barbary.)
